The meeting will take place in Hotel Golden Tulip Serenada, a four star hotel located in Beirut since 2009.

About Lebanon

Lebanon, a country of myths and legends, has a very long history full of trade, investment and tourism. Given its location on the Mediterranean, Lebanon is known by archeological remains of its largest cities: Beirut, Byblos, Sidon, Baalbeck,Tripoli, and Tyre.

Population: 3.7 millions (1995)

Area: 10,452 square kilometers

Language: Arabic. In addition to their native language of Arabic the average Lebanese are often fluent in French or English .

The Lebanese flag: The Lebanese flag is divided into three wide, horizontal stripes with red on top and bottom, and a wider white stripe in the middle. In the center of this white stripe is a green cedar tree, the emblem of the country.

Government: Democratic Republic, with a parliamentary system and a cabinet of ministers.Its constitution is based on the separation of executive, legislative and judicial powers.The 128 Members of Parliament are elected for a four-year term. Lebanon is divided into six regional governments, or Mohafazzat: Beirut, North Lebanon, Mount Lebanon, South Lebanon, The Bekaa Valley and Nabatiyeh.

VISA for Travelers: Visa is waived for Turkish citizens carrying a valid Turkish Passport for travel purposes to Lebanon.

Weather: Typical Mediterranean climate enjoying 300 sunny days per year. On the coast winter is moderate & summer is warm/hot & humid. In the Mountains winter is cold with snow covering highest peaks from December to April while summer is fresh & cool.

September is in the fall / autumn in Beirut and is typically the 3rd warmest month of the year. Daytime maximum temperatures average around a comfortable 29°C, whilst at night 18°C is normal.

Currencies and Payment: In Lebanon, both the American Dollar (USD) and the Lebanese Pound (LBP) - also called the Lebanese Lira (LL) are accepted. At the time of writing, the Lebanese Pound is pegged against the USD at a rate of 1500 LBP to 1 USD.

The maximum allowable amount of cash to bring into Lebanon is 2 million LBP or 1.333 USD.

Language: During the French Mandate, French became the dominant language in Lebanon and was compulsory in school. Since the end of the Mandate, the primary spoken language once again became Levantine Arabic, which is similar to the Arabic used in Syria, Jordan and by Palestinians

Invitation

Dear Colleagues,

Our third meeting with the Union of Arab Pediatric Societies Joint Meeting will be held on September 27-28 2019, in Lebanon.

We aimed to create program including a wide arrangement of topics in conjunction with actual issues in pediatrics. A site visit will also provide helpful in order to exhange practical information with our Lebanese colleagues.

We expect to reach about 200 pediatricians, and 50 of them will be from Turkey. I hope this meeting will be a bridge reaching into future of joint meetings which will maintain regularity during the years.

Registration price is 7000 TL, including all taxes and service fees.
